The Role of the English Teacher in CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning)

Talk
Rosie Tanner

Join Rosie Tanner, a consultant, coach and trainer in CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). This week in our #CETClinic she will be discussing the role of the English teacher in CLIL.

Implementing CLIL at a school or other education institutions can involve changes in the role and tasks of the English teacher. This depends on a number of factors, for example how far a school wants teachers to work together or how much English teachers are willing to support their subject colleagues.

Watch the video to learn more about the possible roles of the English teacher in CLIL and join us on Facebook to ask her your own questions about the role of the English teacher. For now, here are a few questions to get you thinking about the topic:

  1. How many different roles can you think of for a CLIL English teacher?
  2. How can you, as a CLIL English teacher, support the work of your subject colleagues in CLIL?
  3. How is the work of an English teacher working in a “CLIL” environment different from that in a “normal” school?
  4. What conditions does a school need to provide for English teachers so that they can support their subject colleagues?

So, what do you think? Join Roise Live on Wednesday 23rd November at 3pm BST on Facebook to talk about these ideas further and answer any questions you may have.
